SOME KIND WORDS FROM PAST GUESTS
This was our first visit to Costa Rica and we fell in love with Samara so much so, that we are highly considering relocating to build a life in this magical slice of heaven. We loved waking up to the sound of the howler monkeys in the distant trees, drinking our morning coffee out on the patio and biking down the dirt road into town. We are a family of 3 with a toddler and our daughter absolutely loved Samara. The beach is perfect for young swimmers and for learning to surf. We swam in the ocean everyday! We stayed at Chris' place for 6 weeks and cannot begin to elaborate on how great Chris was in making sure that we were comfortable, were enjoying our stay, and addressed any question or concern immediately. More so than being a great host, Chris is a wonderful person as are nearly all of the people who call Samara home. The dining options are outstanding, which we are really impressed to find given that Samara is a smaller beach town, and hitting up the fruit stands and fruit trucks. Be sure to ask Chris to put you in touch with Rafa and Manny for their Nature/Waterfall Hike - they are awesome people and also offer taxi all over. Take the hike from across Villa Tangerine to the 'Secret Beach'. The views are spectacular at the top of the mountain before you hike down and cool off in the ocean. If you are looking to do a stay longer than a week, and have children, we highly recommend Mareas International Homeschool in town as a half or full day option. Chris was very knowledgeable about the area and had great recommendations. He was always available when we needed something. The house was very cozy and the vegetation around the house was very lush so you had privacy from nearby neighbors. We loved having access to the bikes so we could ride down the dirt road to get fresh pastries and food or go a little farther to go surfing. Would highly recommend this place. We had a wonderful time at Chris's. Our flight got delayed so we did not even get there until about 1:30 in the morning yet he was still awake to let us in and give us the rundown. The home was even bigger than we thought and was a great fit, it is surrounded by lots of beautiful trees and wildlife. There is a fridge, plenty of dishes and cookware, blender, toaster oven and gas stove. I think the favorite part of our trip was the fact that he had two bicycles that we were able to ride all the way to town and all around town and on the beaches and everything and it was probably the funnest part of our trip! He had so many great recommendations of restaurants and things to do, we were never disappointed. Sámara is the best vacation town experience and we are already planning our next visit! - Brooke 2016

Chris was an amazing host. He was extremely helpful with getting us acquainted with the area, as well as suggesting different actives/excursions. Having the bikes were a nice touch, as it made getting around town a lot easier (10 min bike ride to town/beach). Casa Del Halcon really is a hidden gem. Casa Del Halcon is a magical place. This little jem is tucked away in the shade of increadibly beautiful tropical plants and flowers. My daughters and I had a wonderful time. Our host Chris is such a sweet soul! He was very kind, welcoming and helpful. I would highly recommend staying at his lovely abode! Thank you Halcon 3 !!! We had an awesome stay at la Casa Del Hacon 2. The house is beautiful and intimate, and the gardens are simply incredible, literally hiding the house behind. We spent our best moments at the table and the hammock, enjoying glasses of wine, some music, and contemplating all the trees and plants around the house. The house is well located, at walking distance of several beaches, with a grocery store nearby. The property was very clean, and Chris had even prepared a large tank of filtered water for us, a very kind touch. This is a great house in a cool location. Chris was a great host and responsive to our needs as guests. The pool in back is an awesome way to cool down in the afternoons. I highly recommend walking to Playa Buena Vista if you want some quiet beach time and a good chance of seeing some howler monkeys on the way. Overall, our stay was awesome.

We had a wonderful, blissful time staying at Casa Del Halcon. 10 days of fun in the sun! Chris was very friendly and helpful! Through Chris we did ATV rental, ocean kayaking and a waterfall tour. We had a great time for all activities. We got solid restaurant and bar recommendation. Our days were sun soaked on the beach (Chris provides bikes for riding around). Our evenings were spent on hammocks reading and chit chatting. Super comfy. Super relaxing. Please try La Perla restaurant, we are obsessed and can still taste their fish filet. Yummm. Try Lo Que Hay for cheap drink specials. We felt perfectly safe the entire time no matter what time we came home. The walk home can be a little dark after 6pm but flashlights are provided and taxis can get you to the house within 5-7 minutes for $4. Can't wait to visit again! Will stay with Chris over and over again. Pura Vida!
